‘Vertigo’ is the new single from Nadine Khouri, a Beirut-born, London-based singer-songwriter. It’s a laid-back, moving track that places her deep, soulful voice at the centre of a minimalistic accompaniment defined by shuffling drums, subtle bass explorations and occasional injerjections from a distant saxophone. On the track’s background, she says: “2020 was a period of unrest around the world. The song "Vertigo" came to me not long after the demonstrations following the catastrophic explosion on August 4th in Beirut, Lebanon. I was writing in isolation with a drum machine and producer, John Parish helped me refine the groove-based sound. The song alludes to some of the despair and rage felt around this time, but also the leap of faith needed to keep going.” Her new album, Another Life, drops on November 18th, 2022. -Dan Peeke.
